Roger practices in the areas of Estate Planning and Probate, Business Planning and Organizations, and Taxation. Prior to law school, he worked for a small Boston based regional accounting firm, and passed the complete five part (two and a half day) CPA certification exam in one sitting. He has worked as a tax specialist for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. and as an Associate in the law firm of Platz & Thompson. Prior to joining Jensen Baird Gardner & Henry, Roger worked as a lawyer in Portland, in solo practice, for 19 years.
Roger attended Washington University, and received his B.S.B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston University School of Management (1975); University of Miami School of Law, and received his J.D. from Boston College Law School (1979); and his LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law (1983). He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1984.
Currently, Roger is a member of the Cumberland Bar Association, the Maine Bar Association (and its sections of taxation, elder law, and trusts and estates), the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants (and its taxation committee), the Maine Estate Planning Council, and the American Bar Association (including its sections of real property, probate and trusts, and taxation).
Roger is active in the Greater Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and Portland Rotary. He is a member of the Temple Beth El Brotherhood, a past member of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Museum of Maine and its executive committee, and a past chairman of the Board of Trustees for 75 State Street. In his leisure time, Roger enjoys tennis and golf.
Roger resides in Portland (previously in North Yarmouth) and has three (young adult) children.
