Jon is a member of the Government Services practice group, having recently returned to Maine after 12 years in Washington, D.C.
Prior to joining the firm, Jon was a litigation associate at a Washington, D.C. firm and then served as counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. While on the Committee, Jon authored legislation relating to national preparedness, emergency management, intelligence reform, international cooperation on antiterrorism efforts, and homeland security funding programs. He was an investigator on the Committee’s special investigation into the response to Hurricane Katrina and is a coauthor of the Committee’s report, Hurricane Katrina: A Nation Still Unprepared. Jon has spoken on homeland security matters to audiences across the country.
Prior to law school, John worked on Capitol Hill for five years, where he advised a U.S. Congressman and U.S. Senator on policy and legislation pertaining to the environment, natural resources, energy, emergency management, and international trade.
Jon is a graduate of the Catholic University of America where he was a member of the Catholic University Law Review. He is a 1994 graduate of St. Lawrence University.
Jon lives in Kennebunk with his wife, Holly Hammond, and their son.
