Bruce works primarily in the areas of bankruptcy, commercial and consumer law, and banking law. He has represented clients in these areas in both state and federal courts in Maine and in the Northeast.

Bruce has been a speaker and panelist in numerous programs presented by the Maine State Bar Association and others. He is a former chair of the Commercial and Consumer Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. He is a member of the Council of Advisors on Consumer Credit for the Maine Office of Consumer Credit Regulation and was on a panel which rewrote Maine's collection laws in 1987. He served on two task forces that in 1999 reviewed and revised Maine's newest version of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and also was involved in the adoption of Article 2A of that Code in Maine.

Bruce received his B.A. from the University of Chicago (1978) and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Michigan (1981). He is admitted to practice in the State of Maine, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Maine.

Bruce co-authored Foreclosure and Repossession in Maine (Lorman Business Center 1989), Distressed Real Estate In and Outside of Bankruptcy (Lorman Education Services 1990), Commercial Bankruptcy (Maine State Bar Association 1990), The Legal Issues of Problem Collections in Maine (National Business Institute 1991), Consumer Rights/Creditor Remedies (Maine State Bar Association 1995), Recent UCC Developments: What Maine Practitioners Need to Know (National Business Institute 2002), and Recent UCC Developments: What Ohio Practitioners Need to Know (National Business Institute 2002). In addition, Bruce served as a member of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority from 1995 until 2000, having been appointed to that position by Maine’s Governor King. Bruce is a Portland-area native, attended Cape Elizabeth schools, and now lives with his family in Portland.
