Alan concentrates his practice in complex commercial and real estate matters, including the acquisition, construction, financing, leasing, sale, and development of offices, shopping centers, industrial and commercial facilities and condominiums, as well as residential projects.
Alan also has extensive experience in contract law and represents many businesses in a wide variety of industries, including restaurants, hotels, real estate development companies and real estate brokerage firms throughout New England. Alan’s experience extends to partnerships, corporations, limited liability companies, joint ventures and almost every type of business enterprise. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced commercial and business law, including commercial real estate transactions, as a partner and shareholder with the firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, P.A. for 28 years.
Alan received his B.A. from New York University (1962) and his J.D. from Boston College (1971), and he is admitted to practice law in Maine and Massachusetts. He serves on the Board of Directors of Temple Beth El. He is on the Executive Board of and serves as legal counsel to the Pine Tree Council and Boy Scouts of America, and he was a Founding Director and Officer of MaineSail 2000. Alan lives with his wife, Gail, and family in Cape Elizabeth.
